Herbal vaporizer - Vaporizing herbs in a vaporizer - What should you keep in mind?
There are many good reasons to buy a herbal vaporizer. For beginners, it is often not easy to make the right decision from the large selection of herbal vaporizers.
The range of products and brands is too diverse. We will try to shed some light on the subject and accompany you on your first steps into the world of herb vaporizers.
Vaporizers / herbal vaporizers are intended for use exclusively with dried herbs / herbs or concentrates obtained from herbs and other plants. Use with tobacco, tobacco substitute products or e-cigarette liquids is not possible and would damage the vaporizer / herbal vaporizer. In addition, the warranty and manufacturer's guarantee of the device will expire.
Desktop vaporizer or portable vaporizer?

At the beginning of the end of smoking is the decision whether to get a desktop vaporizer or a portable herbal vaporizer.
Tabletop devices are particularly recommended for cannabis patients who want to stop smoking cannabis and have to take their medicine very frequently to achieve the desired effect. Tabletop vaporizers are superior to portable vaporizers due to their long durability, high efficiency and dense vapor during thermal extraction and the ability to collect a large amount of vapor produced for inhalation in a tube that is attached to the device.
Decent table vaporizers / vaporizers, for example from Arizer, can be had for less than €150. If you prefer something a little more luxurious, you can get the Volcano Classic desktop vaporizer from the German manufacturer Storz & Bickel. For around €300, you get a practically indestructible vaporizer in a chic industrial design combined with a well thought-out connection system that vaporizes active ingredients with plenty of flavor and achieves an efficient effect. If you are prepared to pay another €150, you get the Volcano Hybrid , the battleship of German engineering, and can set the temperature to the exact degree.
With portable vaporizers, the first decision to be made is whether the battery should be replaceable or not.
Both types of device have their advantages and disadvantages. Vaporizers with built-in batteries can be made smaller and more manageable. A good example is thePax 3 vaporizer , which can be used discreetly and does not add unnecessary weight to your handbag. The battery life is very good at more than 60 minutes and there is nothing to complain about in terms of workmanship and durability. Another example is the Wolkenkraft Äris, which also impresses with its compact design and low weight.
However, if the battery in the Wolkenkraft Äris, for example, has reached the end of its life at some point, it is impossible for the layman to replace the energy source. Portable devices with replaceable batteries usually use 18650 batteries with a high capacity. The batteries can be easily replaced if required. Always use branded batteries. High temperatures prevail in your vaporizer and the Stiftung Warentest regularly warns against cheap batteries. We definitely recommend that cannabis patients in particular, who use cannabis vaporizers several times a day, use a model with replaceable batteries. Occasional users who value discretion can also safely use a herbal vaporizer with a built-in battery.
Conduction, convection or both?

Let's start with the definition: Conduction means that the heating chamber of your vaporizer / herbal vaporizer is heated. Convection vaporizers also heat the air supplied, so warm air hits the organic herbs preheated in the herbal chamber and these can be vaporized with more flavor.
Vaporizers with convection and conduction are more expensive to produce and are reserved for devices in the middle and upper price range. A good recommendation here is the Mighty Vaporizer , the Crafty Vaporizer or the Boundless CFX , which always come out on top in vaporizer tests. Conduction vaporizers with a good price-performance ratio include the Cuboo Stick , the cannabis vaporizers from the Smono brand or the Arizer Solo 2. Most grass vaporizers now have a USB-C connection and a USB cable is included. A charger, however, is no longer always included as standard with vaporizers.
LED display, OLED display and temperature control in steps
Many devices, especially inexpensive ones, but also the Pax 3, usually have 4 levels to choose the desired temperature in degrees Celsius. Common preset levels are 185°C, 195°C, 205°C and >210°C. The advantage of the level control compared to the LED display or OLED display is the low price and the simple operation. Herb vaporizers with a display, on the other hand, impress with their stepless control of the vaporizer temperature, which often starts at under 100°C. This makes it possible to vape valerian, hops, chamomile, peppermint, sage, thyme, green tea, etc. for which temperatures above 185° are not optimal.
How do I use a weed vaporizer correctly?

If you have bought a new vaporizer from 157Grad.de, first check whether the device is complete. Next, charge the battery of the vaporizer. Use the charging cable and power adapter provided. If no power adapter was included, please use a sufficiently powerful power adapter. USB ports on laptops, computers or very cheap power adapters may not provide enough voltage to reliably charge your vaporizer.
If your vaporizer is charged, we set it to the highest temperature before use and let the vaporizer heat up 2-3 times. This has an antibacterial effect and removes any residues from production. After the vaporizer has cooled down again, we open the herb chamber and fill it with the desired material. Please make sure that the chamber is always completely filled with material. Press it down lightly. Not too hard, but also not too loosely. It's a bit like you would if you were trying to fill a standard pipe or cigarette.
Now close the chamber, switch on the vaporizer and initially select a relatively low temperature. For the medical use of cannabis, for example, 185°C. Wait until your vaporizer signals that the correct temperature has been reached.
Expert tip: After your vaporizer gives a signal, wait a few seconds before inhaling so that the ideal temperature can develop in the herb chamber.
Now take your portable vaporizer , filled with delicious herbs or medicinal cannabis, for example, and draw on your vaporizer as slowly as possible. If you draw quickly, as you might be used to with an e-cigarette, the heat flowing through the material does not have enough time to extract the valuable active ingredient from the herbs. Inhale at this temperature until you notice that less or no more vapor is being produced. Then increase the temperature by 5-10°C and continue inhaling your herbal mixture. Continue in this way until you have reached the maximum temperature and no more vapor can be inhaled.
There are dried herbs left over that you can collect and later use in butter or other foods. The herb often still contains active ingredients that can be released when taken orally.
Vaporizing concentrates and oils
As mentioned at the beginning, e-cigarette liquids or tobacco for smoking are not suitable for use in a vaporizer. However, concentrates can be made from some herbs, for example some users press rosin from their flowers for medicinal purposes. You can also vaporize these concentrates in your vaporizer. To do this, you need to use so-called concentrate capsules, filling pads or hemp wool. This protects the chamber and the air path from being contaminated by the valuable concentrate.
Warning: DO NOT use CBD oil, e-liquids, tobacco, or anything other than dry herbs or dry herb concentrates.
Too little steam from the herbal vaporizer

New users, especially those who have come from smoking or using e-cigarettes, will initially be disappointed by the visible vapor development in vaporizers. How much vapor is visible depends primarily on the quality of the material used. The less vapor is visible, the better the quality of the material used. The temperature selected also plays a decisive role. The higher the temperature selected, the more vapor will be visible.
The vapor development is not crucial for the effect and the vapor development will never be like smoking. As a beginner, always vaporize with slow draws, more visible vapor will be created and you can then work your way to your preferred draw speed.
Properly care for your herbal vaporizer
To ensure that you can enjoy your vaporizer / herbal vaporizer for a long time, you should clean and maintain it regularly.
Even in the best weed vaporizer, blue lotus, organic herbs, lavender, hops, cannabis, tea and other herbs leave traces in the herb chamber. These deposits act as an insulating layer and reduce the performance of your vaporizer.
Let your vaporizer cool down and clean the chamber with a cotton swab soaked in isopropanol. First, use a brush to remove any remaining herb from the chamber. Place the mouthpiece and cooling unit in a small bowl of isopropanol and let the parts soak for a few hours. Then rinse the parts of your vaporizer with clean water, let it dry and use your vaporizer as usual.
Price of a vaporizer for herbs

Cough
Many beginners complain of coughing when using vaporizers. A water filter that can be placed in front of the mouthpiece of some vaporizers brings relief. You can of course also find water filters in the 157Grad.de shop.
warranty and guarantee
When choosing your vaporizer, you should also take a look at the guarantee offered by the manufacturer, which often lasts longer than the statutory warranty. The manufacturer Storz & Bickel, for example, offers a 3-year guarantee for its Mighty+ & Crafty+ . However, this requires the device to be registered with the manufacturer. The manufacturer ofPAX 3 vaporizers even offers a full 10 years.
Using Cannabis Oil and Essential Oils in the Vaporizer
Cannabis oil, essential oils, liquids and tobacco are not suitable for phyto-inhalation and can damage your health and your herb vaporizer. Please only use organic herbs such as blue lotus, cannabis, valerian, tea, peppermint, lavender, sage, thyme and other herbs for vaporization. Medical cannabis is prescription-only in Germany and many other countries and the use of cannabis requires a permit. Please observe the respective laws of the countries in which you are staying.
Note: Please discuss the type, dosage and use of your herbs and plants with your doctor or pharmacist.
