Du schaltest den Relict ein, indem du die Einschalttaste fünfmal schnell hintereinander drückst; zum Ausschalten drückst du wieder fünfmal schnell. Nach dem Einschalten zeigt das OLED-Display die aktuelle Temperatur an, das Aufheizen dauert rund 25 bis 30 Sekunden. Sobald die eingestellte Zieltemperatur erreicht ist, vibriert das Gerät und du kannst langsam inhalieren. Gesteuert wird alles über drei Tasten: Einschalter sowie Plus und Minus.
Halte die Einschalttaste etwa 3 Sekunden gedrückt, bis der Cursor auf der Timer-Anzeige steht. Dann stellst du die gewünschte Dauer mit den Tasten Plus und Minus ein. Wählbar ist eine Sessionzeit zwischen 3 und 6 Minuten, die restliche Sessionzeit siehst du im Display.
Der Relict arbeitet in einem Bereich von 160 °C bis 240 °C (320–464 °F) und lässt sich gradgenau einstellen. Steht der Cursor im Display auf "Set", stellst du die Zieltemperatur einfach mit Plus und Minus ein. Ab Werk ist die Anzeige auf Fahrenheit eingestellt; halte Einschalter und Minus-Taste 3 Sekunden gedrückt, um auf Celsius zu wechseln. Höhere Temperaturen ergeben dichteren Dampf, niedrigere einen leichteren Dampf.
Geladen wird über USB-C mit dem mitgelieferten Kabel, empfohlen sind 5 V/2,0 A; die Akkukapazität beträgt 2300 mAh und eine volle Ladung dauert unter 2 Stunden. Vor der ersten Verwendung soll der Akku vollständig geladen sein, und während des Ladens darfst du das Gerät weder benutzen noch befüllen. Den Ladestand prüfst du, indem du bei ausgeschaltetem Gerät kurz den Einschalter drückst – dann erscheint das Batteriesymbol. Ein niedriger Ladestand wird ebenfalls per Symbol im Display angezeigt.
Empfohlen wird eine kurze Reinigung nach jeder Nutzung, damit Rückstände keine Schäden verursachen. Das Gerät muss dabei ausgeschaltet, vollständig abgekühlt und vom Strom getrennt sein, und alle elektronischen Bauteile bleiben trocken. Drehe das Mundstück gegen den Uhrzeigersinn aus der Heizkammer heraus und entferne mit der mitgelieferten Bürste die Rückstände aus der Kammer und der Innenseite des Mundstücks. Anschließend setzt du das Mundstück wieder auf die Heizkammer.
Nimm zuerst das Mundstück vom Verdampfer ab und ziehe das Glasrohr aus dem Mundstück. Danach entfernst du die Silikonhalterung aus dem Mundstück, setzt das neue Sieb in die Halterung ein und schiebst diese wieder ins Mundstück. Zum Schluss setzt du das Aromarohr wieder ins Mundstück und montierst das Mundstück am Gerät. Zwei Siebe und ein 45-mm-Aroma-Glasrohr liegen dem Relict bei.
