All about the Lotus
The INHALE Lotus is a mechanical vaporizer that works with pure convection. A jet lighter heats the flower on top of the cap, and as you draw, only hot air flows through the herbs. The result is a very pure, intense flavor. The Lotus comes with a cap in olive wood, walnut or mulberry.
It was invented by Californian engineer Steven Levin, who patented the principle. Today, INHALE builds the Lotus by hand in Italy.
Pure convection: nothing but hot air
A flower-shaped heating plate sits on top of the Vapor Cap. You heat it with the jet lighter in circular motions. As you draw, the Lotus pulls in fresh air, guides it past the hot plate and then through the herbs below. The herbs don't touch the plate, so nothing burns, and the gas from the flame stays outside.
There is no fixed temperature: you control temperature and vapor mainly with the speed of your draw. Draw more slowly and the temperature rises and you get more vapor; draw faster and the heating chamber cools down. That's why INHALE calls the Lotus an instrument you get better at over time.
Vapor Cap, adapter and glass pipe
The herbs go into the bowl of the 14 mm stainless steel adapter. It holds up to approx. 0.3 g and should be filled no more than three quarters full. The adapter has a handle for filling and silicone O-rings that protect the glass joint.
The Vapor Cap attaches magnetically to the adapter. Its wooden ring is the grip: wood absorbs heat and feels comfortable in the hand.
The kit includes a curved glass pipe (J-hook) with the Lotus logo. Through the glass, you can watch the vapor on its way to you. The adapter also fits any water pipe or water filter with a 14 mm female joint, which cools the vapor even further.
Olive wood, walnut or mulberry
The heating principle, bowl and accessories are the same for all of them. The difference is the wood of the Vapor Cap. Olive wood is light with a lively grain. INHALE also chose it because the olive tree is native to Italy. Walnut is dark with a calm grain. Mulberry has a bold, striped grain. INHALE makes it as a limited edition that won't be produced again once it's sold out. Every cap is made from natural wood, so no two look alike.
How to use the Lotus
- Grind your herbs and fill the bowl in the adapter no more than three quarters full.
- Insert the adapter into the glass pipe or your water filter and put the Vapor Cap on top.
- Adjust the flame so its inner cone reaches from one tip of the flower to the next.
- Move the flame over the flower in small circles and, from the very first moment, draw gently and steadily at the same time. Keep the airflow going throughout the entire heating process.
- The speed of your draw controls temperature and vapor: drawing more slowly brings more heat and more vapor, drawing faster cools the heating chamber.
It takes a few sessions to find your rhythm. A jet lighter with an adjustable flame helps, for example the INHALE Premium Jet Lighter or one of our jet lighters.
Cleaning and care
To clean the glass pipe and the stainless steel adapter, soak them in isopropyl alcohol and then rinse them thoroughly with water. The Vapor Cap doesn't go in the bath: care for the wood dry and now and then with a little wood polish. A screen in the bowl holds the herbs in place.
The heating plate is a wear part. According to INHALE, it usually lasts more than two years with herbs and about one year with concentrates. It can be replaced.

How hot does the Lotus get?
There is no fixed temperature. You control temperature and vapor mainly with the speed of your draw: draw more slowly and the temperature rises and you get more vapor; draw faster and the heating chamber cools down. After a few sessions, you'll have found your rhythm.
How much fits in the bowl?
Up to approx. 0.3 g. Fill the bowl no more than three quarters full and don't pack the herbs tightly, so the hot air can flow through easily.
What does pure convection mean?
The flame only heats the heating plate on the Vapor Cap. As you draw, air flows past the plate, gets hot and then passes through the herbs. The herbs don't touch the hot plate. This makes for a very pure flavor.
When do I start drawing?
At the same time as the flame. As soon as you heat the plate, draw gently and steadily at the mouthpiece. Keep the airflow going throughout the entire heating process. Move the flame over the flower in small circles while you do.
Which lighter do I need?
A jet lighter with a focused, adjustable flame. Set the flame so its inner cone reaches from one tip of the flower to the next. A good match is the INHALE Premium Jet Lighter, for example.
Can I use the Lotus with a water pipe?
Yes. The 14 mm stainless steel adapter fits any water pipe or water filter with a 14 mm female joint. The water cools the vapor even further.
Does the Vapor Cap stay in place?
Yes, it attaches magnetically to the adapter. To fill the bowl, you simply lift it off.
Olive wood, walnut or mulberry – what's the difference?
Only the wood of the Vapor Cap. The heating principle, adapter and glass pipe are the same. Olive wood is light with a lively grain, walnut is dark with a calm grain, mulberry has a bold, striped grain. Mulberry is a limited edition. Every cap is one of a kind.
Is the Lotus suitable for concentrates?
According to INHALE, yes, with a concentrate pad made of stainless steel mesh in the bowl. The heating plate wears faster with concentrates than with herbs.
How do I clean the Lotus?
